Project Ahimsa Celebrates its ninth year with nine grants!

SAN FRANCISCO--The Global Effort to Empower Youth is signing off on 2010 with a bang. This year the organization will be adding first-time grantees including Amistad Mission (Bolivia), Music Basti (India) and Moses House (USA) to it's impressive list of programs. Project Ahimsa is honored to be including repeat grantees, Loco Bloco (USA), Fulbright Scholar, Robin Sukhadia (India), Tenderloin After-School Program (USA), Art in Action (USA), MENTAID (India) and the Disha Foundation (India) in this year's lineup.

In total, the organization granted $16,500 this year to the above mentioned youth music programs. Grantees use the donated money to cover instrument costs, recording equipment, performance fees and costumes among other music-related items. Project Ahimsa has much to look forward to in 2011 in the way of innovative projects, including Robin Sukhadia's trip to India to record several tracks for the organization's "Global Lingo 2" album.

Darian Heyman, a Project Ahimsa board member closed the yearend meeting saying, "I know that every project we decided to fund will make a transformative impact in the lives of the children that benefit from them." Congratulations to all the grantees!
